This week, The PR Office was delighted to attend The Private Equity Dinner, sponsored by Investec Private Banking, in aid of the social care charity Norwood. Our very own Marc Cohen, who is the Chair of the dinner committee, made the opening remarks to a 370-strong room of the UK’s Private Equity community.
Norwood is one of the largest social care charities in the UK, supporting vulnerable children and their families, children with special educational needs and people with learning disabilities. The purpose of the dinner was to raise awareness and funds for Norwood, helping the organisation to continue its vital work and support those who need its services.
The keynote speaker was the esteemed, Sir Martin Sorrell. As founder and Chief Executive of WPP – the world’s largest provider of marketing and advertising services – Sir Martin divulged some fascinating insights on the upcoming election, the possible impact of Brexit to financial services as well as the shifting media landscape.
With the entertainment provided by “the man with over 350 voices” – impressionist, John Culshaw – the evening was not only great fun and interesting, but also hugely successful – with over £200,000 raised for a very worthy cause.
In attendance were the great and the good of the private equity industry, including the likes of Advent International, Warburg Pincus, HiG, Carlyle Group, CVC, Elliot Advisers, Lyceum Capital, Sun European Partners and leading advisers, such as Goldman Sachs, Rothschild, Deloitte, UBS, Linklaters, Allen & Overy and many more. Everyone gathered to raise the funds for Norwood and the amazing people it works tirelessly to help.
